What is Bleesk?

Bleesk is a complete iBeacon & Eddystone proximity platform that enables to create proximity campaigns and deliver them with ready-to-use mobile app. It consists of CMS, Mobile App, Analytics Dashboard and SDK.

How can I test Bleesk platform?

To test Bleesk platform create Bleesk account first and our sales team will be in touch with you shortly.

What mobile platforms do you support?

We support both iOS and Android platforms.

Do I need an app to see proximity campaigns from beacons?

With new Eddystone protocol you can receive notifications and campaigns without a custom app. If you prefer though, you can use Bleesk mobile app or build your own custom app with the use of Bleesk SDK.

2. Using Bleesk Platform

How can I test Bleesk?

  1. Create Bleesk account.
  2. Add beacons, contents & create proximity campaign (watch 'How to' videos below for guidance).
  3. Download Bleesk mobile app (Android, iOS).
  4. Turn on Bluetooth and mobile network or WiFi connection in your phone.
  5. Enable notifications and location services in your phone. You can your settings in iPhone by going to: Settings > Privacy > Location Services.
  6. Open Bleesk mobile app and wait until campaign appears on your phone.

Push notifications will arrive only when Bleesk app is in the background mode or is switched off. Once a customer gets a notification - he won't get the same notification again anytime soon. This is on purpose, so that people are not overwhelmed.

How to Add Beacons & WIFI Spots

Can I import my beacon fleet from Estimote or Kontakt.io?

Yes, you can import your entire beacon fleet from Estimote or Kontakt.io to Bleesk platform in just a matter of seconds. Please follow these steps:

  1. First you need to obtain your Estimote API Credentials or Kontakt.io API Key. You can find Estimote API Credentials in the Account Settings tab of Estimote Cloud. To learn what is your Kontakt.io API Key, please refer to this article.
  2. Add API credentials or key to the Settings Tab in Bleesk Fleet.
  3. Go to Beacons & other spots section.
  4. Click Import Estimote Beacons or Import Kontakt.io Beacons
  5. Wait a few seconds and your beacon fleet will appear.

How to send Push Notification to my customers

Push Notifications are available only in White Label and Custom integrations.

To send your Campaign as a Push Notification, please go to Campaigns section in Bleesk Fleet and click Push button next to your Campaign.

Please be cautious and do not use Push Notifications too often as they can be overwhelming to some of your customers. The last thing you want them to do is to make them uninstall the app.

Every Campaign you created in Bleesk Fleet can be sent as a Push Notification. Push Notifications do not require people to be in the range of a Beacon, WiFi or Geofence. You can send Push Notifications to all your customers or just to a segment - this all depends on the user profile preferences you set up in your Campaign.

3. Troubleshooting

What is the UUID, major and minor of my beacon?

If you haven't received this information from your beacon producer, download Bleesk Fleet App (Android, iOS) to see UUID, major and minor and add beacons to Bleesk.

I can’t get my beacon to work, I don't receive notifications

Please go through this checklist first
  • Do you have your Bluetooth turned on?
  • Do you have a 3G or WIFI connection on?
  • Do you have notifications enabled for Bleesk?
  • Do you have location services enabled. You can check this for iPhone at Settings > Privacy > Location Services.
  • Please make sure that your beacons are set to proper advertising values: frequency min. 330 ms (3 Hz) and advertising power min. -12 dbm.
  • Please check if UUID, Major and Minor numbers that you entered in the dashboard match the UUID, Major and Minor of the Beacon.
  • There should be an active campaign assigned to a beacon.
  • Please shut down Bleesk app, turn off Bluetooth and WiFi for at least 15 minutes and turn on again.

Please note that proximity notifications will arrive only when Bleesk app is in a background mode or is switched off. If application is in switched off mode on iOS, it is best to have the WiFi turned on for best notification perfomance.
Once a customer gets a notification - he won't get the same notification again anytime soon. This is on purpose, so that people are not overwhelmed.

I'm not receiving push (app) notifications - Android

Push notifications require an active Internet (data) connection. Your device must have a connection to a broadband (3G, 4G, or LTE) network, or a WiFi network. Many corporate or school WiFi networks impose restrictions or proxy servers that can interfere with your device's connection to the Internet. If you would like to receive push notifications using the Bleesk app, your device must meet the following requirements.

Sync your Google account with your phone:
  1. Go to the Settings section of your phone.
  2. Go to Accounts and sync.
  3. Make sure there are no errors when syncing your account with your phone.

Set notification volume on your phone to ON:
  1. Go to the Settings section of your phone.
  2. Go to Sound setting.
  3. Go to Volume setting.
  4. Set Notification volume to ON.

Ensure notifications for the Bleesk app are ON:
  1. Go to the Settings section of your phone.
  2. Go to Application manager (or Apps).
  3. Find and select Bleesk.
  4. Ensure there is a checkmark next to Show Notifications.

Also check:
  1. Internet connection (3G/4G or WiFi connection) - Push notifications require a valid SIM card and an active Wi-Fi or cellular connection. Note: Notifications use Wi-Fi only when a cellular connection is unavailable. Firewalls and proxy servers may affect your ability to receive notifications.
  2. Updated Google Play Store app - If you device needs an update for this app, it will prompt you when you open it.
  3. Updated Google Play Services app - This app is usually included in newer versions of Android or was included in an update to the Google Play Store. To see if you have it, go to the Google Play app store and search for "Google Play services". Look for a button that says "Install" or "Update". If you see it, select it to install or update the app.

If your device meets these requirements and you are still not receiving push notifications, you may need to reinstall the Bleesk app. To do this, first, uninstall the Bleesk app from your Android device and then reboot your device. Wait at least 30 minutes, then install the app again.

At this point, if you're not receiving push notifications, there may be an issue with your device. You can test push notifications using the "Push Notification Test" app from Google Play.

If your device meets these requirements and you've already reinstalled the Bleesk app, but still are not receiving push notifications, please contact Bleesk support.

While installing Bleesk on iOS I get a message that the app is not from a trusted developer and cannot be installed.

This will only happen if you decide to install Bleesk App from our server. It is a message that appears for every application that is installed outside of the App Store (OTA distribution). Here is how you can solve this:


Geofencing doesn't work on my phone

Geofencing is less precise when it comes to proximity detection. Geofencing is more effective for outdoor proximity campaigns that target customers on a larger area, for example when they are walking through the street or are close to the entrance of a shopping mall.

  • Android: Make sure that you have turned on Google location services (learn more here)
  • iOS: Make sure that you have turned on iOS location services for Bleesk (learn more here)
  • Try to increase geofence radius to a larger area, for example 500 meters.
  • Turn on WiFi as it increases the geofencing precision.

I can't see any data in the Analytics section

This is usually a case when you test your campaigns in a test environment. After receiving a campaign on your device, please make sure to go out of the beacon range for at least 5 minutes - this will enable Bleesk to send the data to our server, validate it and display it in Bleesk Fleet.

4. Devices

What is a Beacon?

Beacon is a tiny, low cost, wireless sensor that you can attach to any location or object. It broadcasts tiny radio signals which your smartphone can receive and interpret to deliver proximity campaigns. The maximum range is approximately 30 meters. Beacons use iBeacon and/or Eddystone protocols to communicate with your smartphone.

What is the difference between iBeacon and Eddystone?

iBeacon
  • iBeacon works with iOS and Android
  • iBeacon transmits a UUID (16 digit string of numbers), Major (4 digits) and Minor (4 digits). Beacons are not mini-servers or tracking devices. Beacons do not track anything.
  • iBeacon requires an app to receive specific UUID to be able to engage.
  • The UUID is typically the same for all iBeacons working with a specific app. The “Major” and “Minor” IDs are used to identify each beacon uniquely.
  • Eddystone
    Beacons with support for Eddystone can transmit three different frame-types: Eddystone-URL, Eddystone-UID or Eddystone-TLM. All three frame-types work with iOS and Android. You can have a single beacon with Eddystone firmware transmit one, two or all three frame-types.

    Eddystone-URL (Browser Beacon)
  • Tells the smart device to open a URL
  • DOES NOT REQUIRE A PARTICULAR DEVELOPER’S APP INSTALLED
  • Eddystone-URL broadcasts a URL, which is simply a web page. You can link to any site on the Internet.


  • Eddystone-UID (App Beacon)
  • Eddystone-UID requires an app to receive that specific UID for your app to be able to engage.
  • Eddystone is very similar to iBeacon, but it only broadcasts a 16 digit string of numbers known as the UID (no majors or minors).
  • No two beacons will ever have the same UID.


  • Eddystone-TLM
  • The main function of Eddystone is to transmit sensor data from the beacon itself. This includes the beacon’s battery state for now, but could transmit other sensory data including information about temperature (thermometer), movement (accelerometer), etc.
  • Where can I get a Beacon?

    Order one from a beacon producer like Kontakt.io, Estimote, StickNFind to name only a few.

    Will my phone work with Bleesk?

    If you have an iPhone 4s or newer you're good. Phones with Android need to have at least Android 4.3 installed.

    Does the Bleesk App need to be running to receive notifications?

    The app doen't have to be running actively to receive notifications. Only Bluetooth or WiFi has to be turned on.
